Hi Fiends,
Now that summer has arrived, and the gardens are planted, perhaps a moment to catch up and share the news with you.
Check out the garlic! Our much loved, much anticipated back yard garlic crop is looking amazing. We have lots of garlic scapes that we are giving away. These are a wonderful addition to salad dressings, marinades, stir-frys or anywhere else you would use fresh garlic. When dried, they store well and provide a good garlicky addition to dried herb mixes.
Room to Grow Market Garden has been bringing in fresh spinach, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Their gardens and greenhouse are located outside of Glenwood, and they are the most prolific local market garden producer in the area. Their tomatoes are amazing.
We have a ground bison burger in stock again. Crazy Neil replenished our supplies over the long weekend. We appreciate with our inconsistent bison supplies.
See you all soon!

In Like a Lion....March Fresh Stuff at Bridges Natural Foods
The produce is looking quite stellar today, very nice to see so much leafy green amid all the winter white. Lots of luscious greens, I think i might try some of the recipes in this months alive zine. Chevre stuffed chard, or white bean and kale soup?
We have LOTS of creamy Greek Gods Yogurt, if all this cold is making you want to hunker down with comfort food, i have discovered that the Greek Gods Honey flavored yogurt is amazing with both chocolate brownies and apple crisp.
Bridges Natural Foods is once again supplied with the Fairwinds Goat yogurt, milk, chevre, feta and gouda. And the great goat farm in Fort Macleod is now certified organic! I am pretty excited about that. Its great that more producers are getting certified in the region.
Bridges has started to carry a few of the Glutino cookies. I think we are the only supplier of their fresh gluten free cookies in Pincher Creek. We have brought in the gluten free mac and cheese product, Pastato. It is made with potato starch instead of rice and have a great flavor and texture.

Mid January Freshies
Lovely day, but I can’t help but be a bit pouty with the loss of the snow. So sad. I might just have to do some comfort eating.
The Veggies that arrived yesterday look awesome. Giant Portabella mushrooms, avocados and beautiful spinach.
Grocery Special for the next bit will be the Nature’s Path Eco Pac cereal, Oatmeal, Puff and Granola Bars, buy one get one half price.
The amazing Kootenay Apine Cheese will be in at Bridges Natural Foods on Wednesday January 26. Fairwinds Goat dairy will be arriving on Tuesday or Wednesday next week. Really it has been too long to go without chevre.
We have the Greek Gods Yogurt, as well as Jerseyland organics low fat yogurt. I think most of the milk has sold already, except for the homogenized 4Ls. We have L’Ancetre Emmental in now…perfect for a quiche with the beautiful spinach.
We should have in on Wednesday some killer Kootenay Krackers from the Kootenay Bakery in Nelson. Perfect with the cheese! and.....We have started to carry Kalamata Olives, so now that everyone has recovered from the Christmas season, its time to start having dinner parties again.

Happy January
Who is snowed in on this lovely, snowy, bluebird day? This week is looking like we will be running around with lots of things coming in, and me trying to slip out to enjoy the snow for a few hours. I love all the folks out on the hills with air mattresses and crazy carpets.
Kiss My Face body lotion just arrive, if you are a victim of moisture sucking Alberta air. Nelson’s Oso Negro Coffee should be in by the mid week, for those painful 8:30 am sunrises.
The Natural Factors Winter Flyer Sale is on now until February 4. check out http://naturalfactors.com/ca/en for the scoop on all things Natural Factors.
We are getting a portion of a local eco-groovy cow in the near future, so talk to us about all its adjectives if you are curious about the life that this animal lived. We have started to carry Diamond Willow Certified Organic Beef, check out http://www.diamondwillow.ca for info about this great locally based product.
Over the Holidays I spent time with Neil, our bison supplier. After my family was getting back from our Christmas Day walk, Neil was tromping into the yard with boxes of bison for Bridges. He entertained us with stories of bison raising and wrangling. It’s not for the faint of heart, but we are glad that he is doing it so we can enjoy the super good smokies from Alberta Bison Ranch.
I am pretty excited about some new rice that I found. It is an organic wild rice from Saskatchewan. I think I will be trying it out in a wild rice mushroom stuffed peppers or squash this week.
Fresh Stuff:
Greek Gods Plain and Honey Greek yogurt. Rumor has it that there are more flavors on the way!
Valley Pride 1%, 2% and skim milk
L’Ancetre Emmental raw milk cheese
Honey Crisp Apples
Lemons
Grapefruit
Navel Oranges
Avocados
Broccoli
Green Chard
Romaine Lettuce
Curly Parsley
BC Carrots
BC Parsnips
BC Crimini Mushrooms
BC Portabella Mushrooms
BC Butternut Squash
BC Spaghetti Squash
Green Pepper
BC Red Onions
BC Yellow Onions
Dig yourselves out and head into Bridges for great fresh organic stuff,
Sahra
